Can you support our Combined Harvest Appeal?

15th September 2018

We’re incredibly grateful for local schools and churches in Lambeth and Wandsworth who are supporting us this Autumn.

Traditionally, Harvest is a time to celebrate the abundance of food.

For thousands of years, people feasted in early Autumn as farmers’ crops were gathered and stored for the winter. This year, we have asked local community groups and individuals to mark Harvest time through donation. It is a sad fact that many people in Clapham, Balham and Lambeth will not have enough food to eat this Autumn – and it may only get worse in the winter.

How you can get involved in the Combined Harvest Appeals

More than 20 schools and churches in our community are hosting Harvest appeals – but there’s still time for you to get involved! If you would like to organise a donation with your congregation or school, please download our collection point poster here – so that people in your community know where to donate their food. Don’t forget to contact us via email or telephone too, so that we know about your appeal!

If you want to donate to our Combined Harvest Appeal as an individual, you can drop off food at our Foodbank during opening hours, or, at our collection points in Tesco, Clapham South Side, and at Waitrose, Balham High Road. Please check out our shopping list here to see what we are in urgent need of.

This year, we have seen Foodbank use in our area reach record levels. In the first six months of this year, we distributed food to over 800 local people in crisis, which amounted to over 10,000 kg of donations!

As we move towards winter, a time which can force vulnerable individuals and families to choose between food and fuel for warmth, we are concerned that demand will only increase. Thank you for your continued support.

We have a range of voluntary opportunities available, find out more here.

If you’re in trouble, we can help. Find out how we can support you.
