We were amazed by the success of our first ever reverse advent calendar at Christmas last year. But this year, we want even more of you to get involved!
The reverse advent calendar is a nation-wide Foodbank scheme that sees individuals put aside donations each day of advent. Christmas is a time to celebration and reflection, but it’s a sad fact that many people in our community will likely spend the festive season hungry. Rising fuel and heating expenditure, extra costs incurred by school holidays, and benefit delays due to Universal Credit, are just some of the reasons why more people use our service in late December. In Clapham, we have seen unprecedented levels of demand this year, and we expect to see need increase as we move towards the new year.
How do I complete a reverse advent calendar?
The concept for the reverse advent calendar is simple; each day of advent, you put aside a food item or toiletry product, and you donate it all in the last days before Christmas.
This year, Clapham Park Foodbank will be open on Friday December 21, so please bring your completed collections on that date between 10am and 12pm. If you can’t make that time – don’t worry! Just contact us, and arrange a more suitable time to drop your donation off.
We’re incredibly thankful for your continued support – we hope you have a pleasant and restful holiday season.
We are still in need of volunteers for our big Tesco Collection on the weekend of November 29 to December 1 2018. Can you help?
