Building on the success of our 2018 Harvest Appeal, we are calling for support from local churches, schools and community groups this Autumn.
Last year, we we heartened by the incredible fundraising that several community groups and individuals did for our Foodbank to mark Harvest.
Harvest is traditionally a time to celebrate the abundance of food. However our research and statistics show that more and more families in our area cannot afford enough to eat. As we move towards winter, where necessary spending on fuel puts even more pressure on hard-up families, we are concerned that the number of those in need will increase further.
You can get involved with our appeal
There are many ways through which you can get involved with our Harvest Appeal.
- Advertise our appeal in your church / schools or community area: We are always interested in hearing from community groups who want to support our work. Last year, we issued a ‘Combine Harvest Appeal’ poster which many local people used to publicise food collections. You can download an updated poster here. If you decide to run a small collection, don’t forget to tell us about it – so that we can offer any help, and thank you for your effort!
- Donate food and toiletries at our normal collection points: If you don’t have time to fundraise or run a collection to mark our Harvest Appeal, we’d still be incredibly grateful for any donations at our normal collection points. These collection points are hosted by three supermarkets in Clapham and Balham – Tesco Clapham South Side, Waitrose Balham, and Co-Op Alderbrooke Road. Check out our online shopping list here to find out what we need!
With your help, we can continue to help people in crisis. Find out how you can get involved here.
